THINGS I READ ON THE INTERNET

I’m a big fan of Anne Helen Petersen. On her podcast Culture Study, she recently discusses the curious return of 2000s music.

Why does so much ethical fashion look the same?

On money dysmorphia and not letting ourselves have nice things

The incredible team behind the Maintenance Phase podcast explain why calories are not as scientific as we’ve been told.

THINGS I READ ON PAPER

The Witches Are Coming - Lindy West. Lindy is back at it again with strong (and hilarious) thoughts on the place of women in today’s world.

Blood, Bones and Butter - Gabrielle Hamilton. Chef Hamilton owned the legendary Prune in NYC. She tells her gritty origin story, and how she overcame countless obstacles to get where she is today.

Trick Mirror - Jia Tolentino. Very articulate and thoughtful essays on today’s culture: reality TV, religion, women and self-improvement, etc.

I Hear She’s A Real Bitch - Jen Agg. Another great food memoir. Star restaurateur Jen Agg tells her story and gives hope to those who think they lack direction in life - hard work will get you anywhere.

Visual Intelligence: Sharpen Your Perception, Change Your Life - Amy E. Herman. The author explains her method of sharpening observation skills through the observation of fine art and photography. She shares the content of a course she has been teaching large companies, the FBI, the DOJ, etc. for years.
